Art Film Fest and Film Europe Media Company Bestow FILM EUROPE Award for the first time

 

During the closing ceremony of the 18th annual Art Film Fest on Saturday, 26 June, the first-ever FILM EUROPE Award will be given, rewarding the exceptional creative work of a Slovak director or producer abroad. The award is jointly bestowed by Art Film Fest, the Film Europe Media Company and the national television channel Kino CS. The prize’s recipient will be decided by Ivan Hronec, general director of Film Europe, and Peter Nágel, director of Art Film Fest, who regarding the award comments: “I’m pleased by this joint project and I’m very glad that this first award will be granted at our very festival. Art Film Fest's mission is to support Slovak cinema, especially young talent, and this is another way we can to draw attention to it.

Film Europe, together with the national thematically-categorized CS TV television channel package and the European cinema channel Film Europe TV, is launching the premiere FILM EUROPE AWARDS ceremony at Art Film Fest. Awards in other categories (CS Doc, CS Muse) will be bestowed at other Slovak film showcases and festivals. “I think we have a great deal of talent in the Slovak film scene. They deserve to be awarded for managing to create exceptional work, even with the complicated circumstances the current Slovak film industry is in, increasing our country’s visibility abroad,” said Ivan Hronec. The award is given in conjunction with a monetary prize of 1000 euros.
