Best of Comedy (BC)

A favourite section among those who relish the magic of good old film classics on the big screen. It was a newcomer last year, but the interest shown by audiences convinced us to continue the section. Best of Comedy features a fresh mix of one-of-a-kind world cinema titles which are among the best the comedic genre has ever produced. These are works of undisputable quality, which even after several decades manage to communicate with audiences, and of course amuse them.

Films such as director Ernst Lubitsch’s Ninotchka, starring Greta Garbo, which pokes fun at the principles of demagogy and arrogant power; The Apartment from Billy Wilder, a multiple-Oscar-winning comedy-drama with undertones of social critique, with Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon; and the slapstick Seven Chances, from the golden era of matchless comic Buster Keaton’s career. And there will, of course, be much more.
