"Film dramaturgy as a collaborative art"
Midpoint is a script development training program for graduating students and recent graduates which aims to support the writer, director and producer in the development process. Midpoint was conceived at Prague’s FAMU (CZ) in partnership with film schools in Bratislava (SK), Lodz (PL), Bucharest (RO) and Budapest (HU). The three-month training program includes 2 summer workshops and on-line consultations with tutors. Within the framework of Art Film Fest the very first Midpoint workshop will take place (June 18 – 26). In the first year of the program, 14 projects were selected out of 36 applications received: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary will be represented with 3 projects each, 2 projects will come from Romania. In total, 31 young film professionals will be present. Midpoint´s tutors include group leaders Martin Daniel (Head of Studies), Milena Jelinek, Pavel Jech, Pavel Marek, Csaba Bollok and Mary Kate O‘Flanagan. In addition, guest lectures will be organized with prominent film professionals who will attend this year´s Art Film Fest: Fridrik Thór Fridriksson, Jim Stark, and Danny Krausz. Lectures will be also given by professors Zuzana Gindl-Tatárová and Lubor Dohnal.
