Gigs and Live Evenings

Screenings of fascinating films aren’t the only inseparable part of Art Film Fest. It’s a well-established rule that every festival evening, an appealing musical programme will await visitors, who can look forward to an alluring open-air concert in Trenčín and a series of musical events at the Festival Café in Trenčianske Teplice as part of the series Every Evening Live with Oscar Rózsa. Entry to all of these events will be free.

On Sunday, 20 June 2010, Richard Müller will appear with his group on Trenčín’s Mier Square along with special guest, Czech singer Dan Bárta. After a four-year hiatus, Richard Müller is currently releasing his eleventh album, entitled (Already), which could be considered his comeback to the music scene. Festival audiences will have the chance to hear him live with Dan Bárta, the distinguished Czech musician and lyricist, recipient of several awards from the Czech Pop Music Academy.

And on that very same evening, the fun will continue in the Festival Cafe, where Erich “Boboš“ Procházka will take the stage with his band Sitra Achra and a special guest – singer, musician and actress Petra Černocká, who is also coming to Art Film Fest to introduce the fairytale The Girl on the Broomstick and its sequel Little Witch on a Broomstick, along with their director Václav Vorlíček.

On Wednesday, 23 June 2010 at Trenčianske Teplice’s Festival Café, visitors will get to hear an unplugged concert from Peter Cmorik and his band. Last year, this multiple-Golden-Nightingale winner released his third album, Jedno si želám (There's Just One Thing I Want), whose title track has become a major hit.

To change things up a bit, Thursday, 24 June will be dedicated to the moods of oriental and Jewish music, with the Pressburger Klezmer Band in the Festival Café. These outstanding representatives of world music will touch the soul and move the body of every listener with Jewish music’s wide range of enchanting tones and rhythms, as well as that of Slovak, Gypsy and Balkan folk music.

And that isn’t all – other evenings will feature the bluesy moods of Mississippi River music, brought to Teplice by the country/folk duo Ľuboš Beňa and Matěj Ptaszek, rock fans will enjoy a performance by the group 5HP, and an appealing mix of jazz, folk music and elements of classical music will be presented by the Pacora Trio. Oscar Rózsa will introduce the unique musical collective Partnership Unlimited, who will be joined by the versatile singer Svetlana Rymarenko. And one evening will be dedicated to a reading by author Michal Hvorecký from his new novel, Dunaj v Amerike (The Danube in America).
